Pat Buchanan: 'Let's Hope' A Woman Isn't Elected President In My Lifetime | ThinkProgress

Conservative pundit Pat Buchanan — who was recently fired from MSNBC after penning a racist book bemoaning the “end of white America” — reinforced his sexism during an episode of the McLaughlin Group on Sunday. Asked when the country would elect its first female president, Buchanan predicted “2040 or 2050” — well after his expected lifespan. And when host John McLaughlin pressed, “that late?” the 73-year-old Buchanan quipped, “let’s hope so” and broke out in laughter.

Eric LeGrand joins Justin Tuck in hawking sandwiches | ProFootballTalk

Subway is hoping that LeGrand proves to be an inspiration to hungry Americans as well. The Associated Press reports that LeGrand will join Giants defensive endJustin Tuck in commercials for the chain of restaurants that has long featured athletes from various sports in their advertising campaigns. The spots have been filmed already and will roll out this fall.

“Eric’s training is intense and his goal of walking again is clearly the most important goal,” Subway chief marketing officer Tony Pace said. “We believe his inspirational story resonates with our fans. All of our athletes who know Eric are already rooting for him. Like us, they love his character, determination and positive outlook.”

AL manager Ron Washington and NL manager Tony La Russa both named their starting pitchers and lineups for the 2012 All-Star game in Kansas City. Taking the hill for the AL will be Tigers’ ace Justin Verlander, and for the NL will be Matt Cain.

Mets End First Half Six Games Over .500

The Mets finished the first half of the 2012 season with a record of 46-40, only 4.5 games behind the Nationals in the NL East. They are only one game back of Cincinnati in the NL Wild Card race. From SNY’s Geico SportsNite:

"(Mario) Manningham has had a surprisingly difficult time landing a deal after a number of free agent wideouts scooped up big contracts in the hours after free agency opened on Tuesday, but it’s possible the free-spending Rams won’t let him out of town without an agreement. Receiver is now the biggest need for a club that’s aggressively addressed holes on both lines and at cornerback."
